At Reeve-Woods Eye Center, we serve the residents of Chico, CA, and the surrounding communities all year round. However, there are several times when it is extra important to consider your vision and glasses needs. Back to school is one of those times. Amid the rest of your back-to-school shopping, do not forget to schedule an appointment if you or your child needs an eye exam or new glasses before returning to work or school.
We have all heard the stories about students who struggled because they could not properly see the whiteboard from their desks. If your sight has changed since the previous school year, you will need new glasses with an updated prescription to ensure you can see people and materials in the classroom or read from a screen or book while learning at home due to the pandemic. It is often easy to miss gradual changes in vision, but an eye doctor is trained to look for those changes. Even if you do not need a new prescription, a new pair of frames can be a great way to show your style in the new school year!
If you or your child participates in sports, consider if you need to add prescription sunglasses or goggles to your shopping list and whether an eye exam is appropriate. Some parents like to purchase an extra set of eyeglasses for their children, one for home and one for school. However, it is never a bad idea to have an extra pair of eyeglasses available should the first pair become damaged.
It is recommended that you give your eyes two to three days to adjust to new glasses, which means you may want to schedule your eye exam and purchase your glasses before the term begins. However, if you are unable to do so, consider wearing your new glasses over the weekend so that you will be accustomed to them by the time the next school week starts. If you are unsure that glasses are the way to go, you can discuss contact lenses with one of our eye doctors.
If you are in the Chico area and need new glasses or an eye exam, call Reeve-Woods Eye Center today at (530) 899-2244 to schedule an appointment.
